What Others Say about Alpha

"Studying at Alpha was a great, enjoyable experience. During the months I was there I was able to improve my English skills drastically as well as improve my skills in other relevant subjects to the New Zealand curriculum (mathematics, science, etc). The whole learning process was made a lot easier because of Alpha's friendly and dedicated staff.

The teachers would always bring my full attention to the course's subjects, always in a fun and interesting way. Alpha also taught me a lot about how New Zealand works and the ways of the country and I participated in various activities outside class where I had fun while learning more about New Zealand culture

The people that work at Alpha were always caring towards my family and me.

I really appreciate everything they've done and I know how vital they were in giving me confidence to face my first year at High School in New Zealand.

My English skills have improved a lot since then and I'm sure my recent great results at school have their roots in the place where I, for the first time in my life, started learning English: Alpha Educational Institute."

- Nicolas from Brazil, 17 years old, Year 12 student at Burnside High School in 2010.

“Alpha is the ideal place for those who want to learn English in a friendly environment."

“The staff were always available and interested in helping me in my adaptation to New Zealand. Their teaching methods also helped me a lot to integrate into this community. I never felt I was just another student because Alpha always cared about me and my family."

- Marcia, from Brazil – Now working in Christchurch as a Client Service Consultant for an Immigration Agency

"To learn English, it's important to experience local culture. Customs, food, clothing and music are important things in the everyday cultural life in a country.

Besides having great teachers, Alpha gathers all of these aspects together. I studied at Alpha for almost a year and could experience all of these values. For me, Alpha is a school which feels like a Kiwi family. This makes Alpha special.

- Paulo, from Brazil - Now working in Christchurch as an Architect

"I liked studying at Alpha because it helped me improve my English. The class was not boring at all because it provided the varied skills of learning English; including reading, speaking, writing, and listening."
     - Past Student, aged 20.

"Before I came to Alpha, I was afraid that I would not have any friends. Also, I was afraid that my English would be so weak that I would not be able to communicate with other people properly. But after I met my friends and my teachers, I changed my mind. I didn't have any fear or feel nervous anymore because I had lots of new friends of various nationalities. We were like a big family in a warm home called ‘Alpha'. Alpha has given us more than we could have expected."
     - Past student, aged 19.

"When I first came to Alpha I couldn't speak English very well. It was very hard for me because English is my second language. However, Alpha helped me a lot and I can see that I've improved much.
I will soon begin my studies at a Kiwi high school! Anyone who comes to Alpha will feel like I do, that the people there are very nice and friendly."
     - Past student, aged 15.

"I think your high school programme is very useful for the student who is going to a high school.

I believe Alpha is the best school for secondary age students."

- Sue Yang , Director, Prime Education Company, Korea

"St Andrew’s College has had a number of ESOL students enrol in extra-curricular programmes at Alpha Educational Institute, with very pleasing results. The Institute can provide support with the English programmes students are being taught in their own schools. It is also especially valuable in giving them help with the skills of formal writing, which is an area many students find challenging in their NCEA assessments. The students are able to attend either weekly tutorials or can also enrol during their school holidays. Over time, all our students have shown a marked improvement in their English levels."

     - Stephanie Brooks, Head of International Department, St Andrew’s College, Christchurch

"The Rangi Ruru girls who came from Alpha have settled in very well to the school programme."

     - Helen Scott, Director of International Students, Rangi Ruru Girls’ College.
